Why Choose Biodiesel

Biodiesel is a natural product usable as fuel in automotive vehicles and as a heating fuel, with characteristics indicated respectively in the UNI 10946 and UNI 10947 standards.

DP Lubricants’ biodiesel is obtained from renewable sources such as vegetable oils and animal fats and is a fuel with very similar characteristics to diesel, with the difference that diesel is derived from petroleum. Biodiesel (unlike diesel) is not explosive, with a flash point set at 150°C for biodiesel compared to 64°C for diesel. Unlike diesel, it is biodegradable and non-toxic, and reduces carbon monoxide emissions by approximately 50% and carbon dioxide emissions by almost 80%.

We extensively utilize used oils recovered from refined vegetable oils used in frying; this enables us to produce biodiesel with total sustainability.

DP Lubricants is located in Aprilia, on the outskirts of Rome. It produces biodiesel sold in Italy and exported to Germany, France, Greece, Croatia, and other European countries.
The Aprilia plant, with a capacity of 160,000 tons per year, is not just a traditional biodiesel plant; it incorporates advanced technological systems to ensure high production standards. In fact, for biodiesel production, vegetable oils primarily destined for human consumption are not used.
The Aprilia plant exclusively utilizes used frying oils, oleins, which are by-products of vegetable oil refining, and animal fats of category 1 and 2. This is an important component within our entire company and should not be underestimated.
The biodiesel produced, all distilled, significantly improves upon legal specifications and is highly appreciated by all the oil companies purchasing our product. Furthermore, since our biodiesel is exclusively produced from waste and by-products, it qualifies for the double counting biodiesel bonuses, which is another reason it is in high demand.
We also produce electricity from biogas necessary for our consumption.

Products

Biodiesel
It is a biofuel produced through a transesterification reaction, a process in which a vegetable oil reacts with an excess of methanol, in the presence of an alkaline catalyst. The final product is a mixture of methyl esters that contains no sulfur or aromatic compounds but a high amount of oxygen and can be used as fuel for automotive and heating purposes.
Vegetable Oleins
In the glycerin purification plant, a stream of vegetable oleins is separated as a by-product, which is utilized in the chemical industry.
Glycerin
Glycerin is a by-product of the transesterification reaction in biodiesel production. The raw glycerin obtained undergoes processing in DP Lubricants' plant, which includes all treatment phases: De-solventization; Purification; Concentration; Distillation; and Refinement.
Distilled Fatty Acids
The plant includes a physical deacidification unit for oils and fats, in which a stream of fatty acids is separated by distillation. The resulting product, consisting of highly concentrated acids, is used in the chemical industry.

URS United Registrar of system – certification

It has certified the company’s Quality Management System ISO 9001:2008 for the production of methyl ester (BIODIESEL) for automotive, heating, and chemical intermediates production, with certificate number 31025/A/0001/UK/It, issued on April 27, 2010.

Bureau Veritas Certification France

It has certified the Procedures for Process Verification according to the 2BSvs standard for the BIODIESEL product from used oil (UCO) and animal fat (AF), with certificate number 2BS010104, issued on November 22, 2011.

Sustainability Management System

DP Lubrificanti has adopted (for biodiesel production) a Sustainability Management System compliant with the ISCC EU – International Sustainability & Carbon Certification standard. Further emphasis is given to the certifications displayed, in the constant commitment to maintaining and implementing sustainability, traceability, and mass balance management requirements in accordance with the Directive 2009/28/EC.
